Who We Are

California Forward is a nonprofit organization charting a new path to more effective state governance.  Through nonpartisan policy analysis, public dialogue throughout the state on key issues, and pursuit of sensible reforms, we can overcome political gridlock and solve the electoral, fiscal and management problems undermining public trust and government performance.

Our Issues

California has long been a land of opportunity.  But our state is stressed by tremendous pressures associated with a growing population, evolving social issues and an increasingly global marketplace.  The state's public programs - especially those critical to California's long-term success, such as education, health and human services, transportation and environmental protection - have not kept up with these challenges.  To achieve progress, Californians must improve the state's systems of governance.

Tracking Progress

California Forward is developing indicators that reflect the quality of life in California and the quality of our state's systems of governance.  These indicators are intended to help inform Californians of the progress being made in addressing high priority challenges as well as inform efforts here at California Forward to design a reform strategy that is responsive to public needs.
