Beacon Economics: 2008 Regional Economic Forecast Conferences

Please click on each city for more information or to purchase tickets:

Beacon Economics hosts forecast conferences as a way to connect their work to local business and political leaders, and to encourage a dialogue about vital issues facing economies in California's many regions. Beacon's economists present an in-depth look at a local economy, honing in on both long-term growth trends and the likely ups and downs of the next year. Topics include income, employment, demographics, residential and commercial real estate, and local government. The discussions also cover important trends in the state and national economy - with a focus on what these aggregate trends may mean for a region.

2008 DONKAPHANT Film Festival

Wednesday, October 29th at 6:30 pm
The Skirball Cultural Center
2701 North Sepulveda Boulevard
Los Angeles, CA

Please purchase tickets by Wednesday, October 22 at www.YOUnitedFoundation.org.

The DONKAPHANT Film Festival is a non-partisan effort to raise awareness about the importance of being informed, participating in elections, and staying civically active even after Election Day.  Nine short films supported by nine non-profits similar end goals will be displayed, bringing more than 400 people to the Skirball Cultural Center to spur political involvement. An underlying premise of the Festival is the similarities between 1960 and 2008. Just as 1960 was the year of the first televised U.S. Presidential debates, 2008 is the first year that political videos online have captured a majority of voters’ attention.
